Meet the Team: Teresa Henry

Updated: Apr 28

Teresa is an independent contractor working for VeganMed.

Why did you join the Pill Clarity team?

My background is in biological sciences specializes in conservation and ecology. I stumbled into Pill Clarity accidentally through an acquaintance of mine and really appreciated their mission. Some of my family members are vegan and have always struggled finding animal-free medications. On another level, I appreciate an emphasis on animal-free medication in a conservation aspect. Most animal-free products are more sustainable and environmentally friendly. I'm excited to have the opportunity to bring my background and experience to the team.

What is your favorite animal-free product? It's hard to choose a favorite animal-free product. My family and I have been making a concerted effort to reduce our use of single-use plastics and plastic consumption in general. Most of the products we have switched to are animal-free, including bamboo toothbrushes and Fresh Labs Biodegradable Vegan Dental Floss.

What was the most shocking thing you discovered about the pharmaceutical industry when you started working here? The most shocking thing I discovered is how clever manufacturers can be to make a product sound animal-free while not actually being animal-free. There is such a liberal use of the term "plant-based", which, to the normal consumer, would make the product seem like it does not contain animal products. As a result, I've found myself reading a lot more labels on my own products than before.

Yona the lizard is a rescue lizard who found her forever home with Teresa.

What are you doing to help pass the time while sheltering-in-place?

When I'm not working, I've spent my time pursuing my hobbies, such as cooking, reading, skating and biking, sewing, and video games. The time at home has also given me a chance to work more with my rescue lizard, a bearded dragon named Yona.
